Sleutelwerk
(tin, wood, glass)
Keys and keyholes, a motif that has recurred for many years in my drawings, thoughts and works. During the COVID quarantine period, I sculpted one key every evening. Each shape represented a possible option, a path, an attempt at an answer, a solution.
The more keys I made, the more questions arose. For every answer a new uncertainty, for every keyhole a key. Three years later, the plasticine keys began to deteriorate. In order not to lose them, they were cast in tin: an attempt to preserve doubt.
Collected in a glass vitrine, they form a silent testimony to the act of searching — fixed doubt, an ode to seeking.
